MANILA, Philippines - Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin on Thursday promised the funds of the Armed Forces will not be used in corruption during his term.

He made this vow at the resumption of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on the alleged anomalies in the military.

Gazmin even said the Department of National Defense will already allow the audit of its intelligence fund as long as national security is not put at risk.

For his part, Armed Forces chief Eduardo Oban said the military identified 18 financial and logistical flaws covering five major points, logistics, finance, personnel, training and discipline law and order.

He said a 2-day workshop led to the formation of the AFP Financial and Logistical Reform Program, which will serve as a blueprint for improving the military resource management systems.

Oban said since he took over as AFP chief, the military has successfully conducted 3 major internal audits including one that focused on alleged conversion of funds for petroleum oil and lubricants. Report from ANC
