MANILA - Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes will personally face the Supreme Court on Wednesday regarding the release of the source code of the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines for political party review.
Brillantes said, due to lack of time, the Comelec and the Office of the Solicitor General agreed that the Comelec will file its comment tomorrow.
Brillantes said he will also handle the oral arguments so that he can also apologize to the high court.
"I'd also like to face the Supreme Court so I can thresh out statements I have put out in past, [like] the statement I had said that I'll resign...It's more appropriate for me to face them. This is my only chance and ako na rin a-argue sa kaso ni Dick Gordon," he said.
Weeks ago, Brillantes said he was considering quitting the commission after the high court released a status quo ante order on the Comelec's limit on the airtime for political advertisements.
The poll chief said it was the fourth SC ruling against the Comelec this year, following earlier decisions on the "Team Buhay, Team Patay" tarpaulin in Bacolod, the party-list purge, and an election protest case in Imus, Cavite.
