MANILA - Vice President Jejomar Binay on Wednesday admitted that he is pursuing a "successful businessman" as his running mate in the 2016 presidential elections.
Binay refused to name who he was referring to, but United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) secretary general Atty. JV Bautista previously told ABS-CBN News that they were in talks with Manny Pangilinan.
"Nandoon pa rin ang pagnanasa natin na sana makakuha ako ng successful businessman na makasama," Binay said.
"By experience kasi, at the local level, no revenue no project, sa national level masama ekonomiya natin," he added.
He hinted that businessman and former Senator Manny Villar may not be his running mate in 2016.
"Ang pagkakaalam ko ayaw na niya sa pulitika," he said.
Binay did not deny that he is also seeking partnership with former Senator Panfilo Lacson.
"Eksaktong sinabi ko magsama na lang tayo, totoo naman yun na hinihimok ko siya," Binay said.
But he refused to say whether he is considering Lacson as his running mate or to be part of his senatorial ticket.
Binay, meanwhile, also said Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao is still weighing his options whether to run as senator under him.
