MANILA, Philippines - The Liberal Party (LP) will deploy volunteers to guard and monitor the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines.
LP vice-presidential candidate Manuel "Mar" Roxas II said on Tuesday that at least 30 volunteers will be dedicated solely to monitor each voting-counting machine.
"From the time the PCOS is tested and sealed, you should closely guard it until May 10. The chip, the memory card is already inserted, you have to secure it," Roxas told ANC's Headstart in a one-on-one interview.
He said the 30 volunteers for each of the 70,000 PCOS machines are on a shifting schedule.
Roxas said having many volunteer organizations is one of the strengths of the Noy-Mar tandem. He said this is one of the key factors that will help ensure that votes cast for them will not be rigged.
He clarified that their volunteers are not getting paid by the party.
Aquino earlier warned of a people's revolt in case of a massive fraud and failure of the automated elections.
The LP presidential candidate believes he will win the presidential race because of his big lead in pre-election surveys.
He had a 19-percentage point lead over Sen. Manny Villar and former President Joseph Estrada in Pulse Asia's last pre-election survey conducted April 23 to 25.
Aquino believes massive fraud is the only reason he would lose in the elections.
