MANILA (UPDATED) - Not even a juggernaut of a boxing match can keep criminals in their homes.
In a press release, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it has monitored several criminal incidents between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, just when Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and American Floyd Mayweather Jr. was duking it out in the ring.
In Tanauan City at around 10:45 this morning, an unidentified gunman shot dead a certain Ronnel Villarosa in Barangay Pantay Bata.
In Sta. Cruz, Laguna, Julie Isagon dela Pena was hit by a stray bullet while inside her home waiting for visitors. She is now in the hospital receiving treatment.
In Cagayan de Oro City, two unidentified individuals fled on board a Ford Ranger after killing the car owner, Nanding Corrales.
In Catbalogan City, Samar, a certain Carling stabbed fish vendor Alejandro Catienza. The latter is now in the hospital.
Metro Manila, on the other hand, was relatively peaceful. Police units reported no untoward incident during the same period today.
The PNP said other regions also reported normal situation.
