MANILA - Senior Supt. Bartolome Tobias is the new Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman as well as publicist.
Tobias, also a lawyer, said: "Essentially, my responsibility is to ensure effective implementation of the PNP Media Relations Policy that basically involves upholding the right to information particularly on matters of public interest.”
He assured members of the press of reasonable access to information on PNP affairs. He said he looks forward to establishing a cordial working relationship with the media.
Tobias took over as officer-in-charge of the PNP Public Information Office today replacing Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo, who will become officer-in-charge of the Directorate for Intelligence.
Tobias, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Sandiwa Class of 1985, had just finished his two-year tour of duty as Commander of the PNP Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Force (AID-SOTF), which was cited for breaking the backbone of notorious drug syndicates during a recent string of successful police operations.
He also has extensive field experience in Western Visayas.
He was admitted into the Philippine Bar in 2003, and later served a tour of duty with the United Nations Mission in Timor Leste.
