MANILA - Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. on Monday said the poll body is prepared for the midterm elections, with just a few minor problems expected.

Brillantes and top Comelec executives met with their regional directors Monday to get feedback and give instructions ahead of the May 13 polls.

Brillantes said his assessment is that generally, the commission is ready with all the preparations done.

He said they have started deploying ballot boxes and ballots.

They have also moved on to preparations in terms of peace and order and electricity.

Brillantes, quoting a Comelec regional director, said there are some places in the Cordilleras that have no electricity.

He said energy officials assured that enough power is in reserve to guarantee supply in Mindanao on election day and the days before and after the event.

Brillantes also said they are prepared for contingencies.
