MANILA - How will the Liberal Party boost Secretary Mar Roxas' ratings before the 2016 presidential election?

Senate President and LP vice-president Franklin Drilon said the party plans to focus on the need to continue the reforms instituted by President Aquino. He said electing Roxas as the next president will ensure that the policies of good governance will continue after Aquino steps down.

"The continuous explanation of the need for the next administration who will continue the reform process that has begun and has been implemented on many aspects, the continuity of the policies of good governance is critical to the Liberal Party, and we will emphasize this in explaining to our people why Senator Mar should be the next president," he told reporters.

He said the administration party has yet to convene to decide on its candidates for the 2016 elections.

Drilon earlier confirmed that Roxas has already expressed his interest to seek the country's top post.

This, after a Social Weather Stations survey conducted last March 20-23 showed only 15 percent of Filipinos picked Roxas to succeed Aquino in 2016.

If Roxas indeed runs in next year's elections, he will again face off with Vice President Jejomar Binay, who has declared his intention to run for president. Roxas lost to Binay in the 2010 elections.

Binay topped the latest SWS survey with 36 percent, followed by Sen. Grace Poe with 31 percent.
