PCG bans sea travel in Pacific coastal areas

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Coast Guard on Friday issued a notice to mariners (NOTAM) advising ships transiting coastal areas fronting Pacific Ocean to take maximum precautionary measures and/ or to take shelter as  necessary, and to continue to monitor further information on the tsunami alert level.

"All PCG units in the coastal areas fronting Pacific Ocean have been directed not to allow ships and seacrafts to sail or to venture out to sea until the alert level is lifted. All Coast Guard units are likewise directed to coordinate and initiate the recall of motorbancas and other seacrafts in the abovementioned areas," the Coast Guard said.
