MANILA, Philippines - Mistakes sometimes happen in the pressure-packed journalism industry, a Philippine newspaper found out too late on Monday.
The Philippine Star committed such an error on the front page of its March 7 edition, carrying a photo of former Philippine Ambassador to the US Willy Gaa with the wrong caption.
The photo, which accompanied an umbrella story, was captioned as "Oban" - or newly appointed Armed Forces chief Lt. Gen. Eduardo Oban Jr., who assumed the post on Monday.
The error was immediately noticed by Internet users.
Hector Bryant Macale, managing editor of the Philippine Journalism Review and senior staffwriter of the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR), took a photo of Philippine Star's front page and published it online.
The CMFR also pointed out the mistake through Twitter.
As of posting, The Philippine Star had yet to comment on the issue.
