MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) - The wife of former military comptroller Jacinto Ligot was excused from testifying in the Senate Blue Ribbon committee hearing on military corruption Thursday after her blood pressure shot up.

Erlinda Ligot wept just before Sen. Jinggoy Estrada could start questioning her about allegations that she owned 10 houses in the United States.

It was the first time for Mrs. Ligot to appear before the panel.

A Senate doctor took her blood pressure during the break and said it was 180 over 110, prompting Estrada to excuse her from the hearing.
