MANILA - The Senate public services subcommittee of Senator Grace Poe has submitted her report finding "negligence and inaction" of Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya for the MRT mess.
In a 45-page report signed by Poe and submitted to public services mother committee chairperson Sen. Serge Osmena, Poe also recommended that the report be sent to the Ombudsman, Department of Justice (DOJ), and Civil Service Commission (CSC) "for appropriate action and filing of cases."
The report came after Poe called for the resignation of Abaya for his supposed failure to fix the problems in the MRT that have been causing inconvenience to commuters.
MRT is the light rail transit system along EDSA.
The hearings started September 2014 after an MRT coach overshot the rail track in the Taft Ave. Station.
The transfer of maintenance contracts of the MRT was also tackled during the hearings.
Abaya, former Transportation Secretary Mar Roxas, and former MRT General Manager Al Vitangcol were invited to the hearings.
