MANILA, Philippines - After three hearings, Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras has finally hurdled the Commission on Appointments.

This, after Iloilo Rep. Ferjenel Biron withdrew his objection to Almendras, saying the latter has complied with Biron’s demands to investigate alleged anomalies in his province’s electric cooperatives.

Also confirmed by the 25-member bicameral panel was Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo.

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin would have to return for another hearing to answer questions from Senate Minority Leader Alan Cayetano.
