2.5-M hosts consecrated ahead of Pope's mass

MANILA, Philippines – Around 2.5 million hosts were consecrated Saturday night ahead of Pope Francis' mass at Rizal Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Catholic News Service on Sunday morning shared a Facebook post from Aaron Ricardo-Veloso, who was present when the hosts were consecrated in a mass.

"We prayed that those who will receive communion… may be ever ready beacons of mercy and compassion to all," Ricardo-Veloso wrote on Facebook.

There are already huge crowds at ahead of Pope Francis' mass this afternoon, the last activity of his visit to the Philippines.

Organizers expect six million people to attend the outdoor mass, which is expected to be one of the biggest in the country's history.

On Sunday morning, the Pope visited the University of Santo Tomas, where he held a meeting with the youth.
