MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III has offered a P2-million reward “for information leading to the arrest and conviction” of the killer of seven-year-old stray bullet victim Stephanie Nicole Ella.

In an interview with radio dzRB, deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said Aquino announced the news on Thursday.

Valte refused to comment any further on the status of the case, but gave a thumbs-up on its progress.

Ella was buried Saturday afternoon in Norzagaray, Bulacan. Her family is hopeful the police will be able to determine the source of the stray bullet that hit her during the New Year’s eve merrymaking.

The child, who was merely watching fireworks outside their home in Caloocan that fateful night, later slipped into a coma.

She died on January 2 after suffering from eight cardiac arrests.

Her death has resulted in fresh debates on greater gun control.
