MANILA -- Holiday seekers may have plenty of time to unwind this year.

Based on Malacañang's Proclamation No. 655, which enumerates the holidays for the year 2014, long weekends will kick off with the celebration of Chinese New Year on January 31, a Friday, which has been declared a special non-working day.

There is also the Holy Week break beginning April 17, Maundy Thursday, until April 19, Black Saturday.

Another long weekend is slated for National Heroes Day, August 25, which falls on a Monday.

Meanwhile, the Christmas holiday just got longer with December 24 and 26 declared as special non-working days.
