Heart Evangelista invites aspin Yoda for tea after viral restaurant incident

Heart Evangelista is inviting Yoda (right), to have tea with her pet Panda, who is also an aspin. Photos from Panda/Instagram and Lara Antonio/Facebook Heart Evangelista took to social media to extend her love to Yoda, the aspin (asong Pinoy) that was recently denied entry to a restaurant in Tagaytay supposedly because of the dog's breed and size.

On Instagram Stories, the actress shared a post showing her beloved pet Panda, also an aspin, with the caption: "Sending love to Yoda."

Evangelista, an animal welfare advocate, is known for having a soft spot for aspins. 

She playfully refers to Panda as the president of "Aspin Society Elite," with her dog's Instagram page boasting of over 70,000 followers. 

The latest post on the said account, which appears to be a reaction to the viral incident, had the caption: "Anong walang breed? Mas may breeding pa ako sa inyo ha. Loka mga 'to. Hello sa mga kasali sa Aspin Society Elite." It also included the hashtag #notodiscrimination.

In the comments section, Evangelista told Panda to invite Yoda for tea. "Invite mo na anak si Yoda for high tea!" she said. 

Screenshot from Panda's Instagram pageThe Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) has released its own statement about the issue involving the restaurant Balay Dako and the aspin Yoda.

The group, where Evangelista also serves as a spokesperson, stressed that "no pet deserves to be turned away for being an aspin" and called for "a holistic, inclusive love for all pets."

"Let's ensure that your doors are open to every pet, regardless of breed," PAWS said. "To be truly 'pet-friendly' is to foster genuine inclusivity and love."
