The announcement came with the appointment of Eva Patalinjug, the former winner of Miss Asia Pacific International 2014, as the new president of the beauty pageant.

Jacquelyn Tan-Sainz, the former president of the pageant, has decided to step down from her position to focus on her family. She expressed her full support for Patalinjug and the new direction of the pageant.

Patalinjug is no stranger to the world of pageantry as she also represented the Philippines in Miss Grand International back in 2018.

“I'm very overwhelmed with happiness. I'm just taking it all in. One step at a time. I never back down to any challenges. I'm really happy who would’ve thought after 10 years after Mutya ng Pilipinas and I won Miss Asia Pacific, I will become the president of Miss Asia Pacific International,” she said.

The pageant announced that it will now be open to married women, women with children, and those up to 30 years old.

“We really wanna become more inclusive our advocacy has really been beauty in diversity but now we are opening our doors to women who are married, who have children and now we are increasing our age limit from 28 years old to 30 years old because we realized that there are a lot of woman out there who has this dream who have an advocacy and they need a platform,” Caballero-Aplal said.

Asked if there was any pressure for them to make the pageant inclusive just like other pageants in the country she said: “No, if you think about it in 2016, andu'n na 'yung beauty in diversity, but hindi naman biglaan 'yun but little by little we started to incorporate.”
