MANILA (UPDATE) - Miss Philippines Jamie Herrell was crowned Miss Earth 2014 at the pageant held Saturday at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Theater in Quezon City.

The other winners are:

  • Miss Earth Fire: Anastasia Trusova of Russia
  • Miss Earth Water: Maira Alexandra Rodriguez of Venezuela
  • Miss Earth Air: Andrea Neu of USA

In the question and answer portion, Herrrel was asked: "If you win tonight's crown what will you do to reverse global warming?"

The Cebu native answered: "Global warming has been known to be a long, overdue issue. I will use my title to inspire others, help our environment, and we start with the kids -- the kids are the people of tomorrow."

The 20-year-old, in her Miss Earth profile page, said that she has always been an environmental advocate.

She wrote: "I have many environmental activities but I will promote the Miss Philippines Earth 'Think Twice Campaign' because it is a project that reigning queens of Miss Philippines Earth 2014 primarily do. I really worked hard for it and it is something I would like to share with the other delegates."

According to Herrell, "Think Twice" is a communications campaign that encourages people to find alternatives in our everyday lives to protect and help Mother Nature.
