MANILA, Philippines – Veteran broadcast journalist Pia Hontiveros is ending her 22-year stint as reporter and anchor of ABS-CBN.
Hontiveros bade farewell on Tuesday during her last episode on ABS-CBN News Channel's (ANC) political talk show, “Strictly Politics.”
“As you know, I was on maternity leave as I gave birth last October 8 and I am a proud mom the fourth time around to my baby Zio. But tonight is my last night on ANC,” she said.
Hontiveros said she is grateful to all the people who followed her and watched her grow as a journalist working for the Kapamilya network.
“I wish to thank you all for your viewership for all these 22 years, that’s how long I’ve been with ABS-CBN, with ANC, and 11 of those years here on ‘Strictly.’ Thank you for watching me grow up and grow here on ABS-CBN and the ABS-CBN News Channel. Thank you for the encouragement and the praise and the critique and the criticism,” she said.
In her official Twitter account, Hontiveros said she will be transferring to SolarTV, which will also put up a news channel.
Hontiveros said she will also be broadcasting news in SolarTV.
Transportation and Communications Secretary Mar Roxas, who was the guest on Tuesday, gave Hontiveros a bouquet of flowers. He said he was honored to have been the guest in Hontiveros' last hosting of "Strictly Politics."
