There is more to Valenzuela City than plastic factories.

A number of restaurants and cafes have opened up along the stretch of McArthur Highway catering to families who enjoy eating out, as well as students and young professionals.

Aside from Valenzuela People’s Park and the soon-to-open Valenzuela Town Center, which will house different retail stores and restaurants, here are five hangout places to visit when you simply want to go out and relax.

1. Coffee Tea and Symphony

This modern café, adorned with different sorts of mix-matched chairs and interesting light fixtures, serves as a refuge for those who are in dire need of place that's free from distractions.

Customers have a variety of food and beverage to choose from. Best-sellers include the Pure Passion smoothie, ice-blended Coffee Jelly, Wintermelon Fuji Milk Tea, Chicken Teriyaki, Baked Lasagna and Clubhouse with fries.

Prices range from P65-P360. Open from 10 a.m. to midnight.

2. T-Cup-Zone

Known for filling and reasonably priced food, T-Cup-Zone serves Taiwanese chow and nibbles. The two crowd favorites here are the Seaweed Rice Roll and the Spaghetti Bread, which come in various flavors like roasted beef and smoked bacon.

Located at 9 Sampaguita St., Villa Teresa Subdivision, Marulas, Valenzuela City, T-Cup-Zone is open from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

3. D’Cream Coffee and Tea

One of the first cafes in Valenzuela, D’Cream Coffee and Tea has expanded from a milk tea and coffee shop serving students and young professionals from the nearby Our Lady of Fatima University.

Five years after it opened, its menu now includes grilled rice meals and pastries apart from the usual tea and coffee drinks. Regulars swear by D’Cream Special and Golden Sun milk tea flavors, as well as the Oreo Cheesecake.

D’Cream Coffee and Tea is located at 115-C McArthur Highway Valenzuela City.

4. What The Tea

As the name suggests, What The Tea specializes in tea, which is served just the way you like it: hot or iced, with or without sinkers, and with or without an added scoop of vanilla ice cream. Apart from tea, it also serves rice meals, noodle bowls, and other snacks that make clients go back since it opened in December 2013.
