Miss Earth 2013 Alyz Henrich of Venezuela
MANILA – Miss Earth 2013 Alyz Henrich of Venezuela is in the country to promote this year’s edition of the pageant, which will be held on November 29 at the UP Theater in Quezon City.
The reigning Miss Earth said she is happy to return to Manila, which she referred to as “a wonderful place.”
“All the people here are so friendly,” she said in an interview on “Mornings@ANC” on Tuesday.
After taking part in various activities and campaigns for environmental awareness, Henrich said she is ready to hand over her crown to one of this year’s candidates.
Along with Miss Philippines Earth 2014 Jamie Herrell, she will welcome some 90 beauty queens from across the globe for the upcoming pageant.
“I had a year, I’ve had my experience and adventures, too, with this crown. So I think I’m ready to give my crown to another person, to another queen,” she said.
When asked what she is looking for in her successor, Henrich said: “I think the new queen needs to have a big heart and a big smile. And she has to be smart. Because it’s not just about beauty and travels, it’s a job. It’s a real job that you need to take seriously.”
“You have more impact… you can change other people’s minds… It’s nice to have a voice around the world,” she added.
As she passes on her crown this November, Henrich said she is preparing to return home to Venezuela to become a TV host.
“Maybe I can also continue my work with environmental advocacy, not just in Venezuela but also around the world,” she said.
The Miss Earth 2014 coronation night will also be aired on ABS-CBN, TFC and Star Channels.
