How to help the victims of flooding

MANILA (UPDATE 5) – Organizations, schools and companies have begun efforts to help those affected by widespread floods caused by rains brought by the southwest monsoon and tropical storm Maring.

Here is a list of those who are accepting donations in cash and in kind to help the victims of floods in Metro Manila and provinces in Luzon.

ABS-CBN Foundation

What they need: Rice, canned goods, noodles, biscuits, coffee, sugar, water, clothes, blankets, mats, medicine, and cash donations

Where: ABS-CBN Foundation-Sagip Kapamilya Headquarters at #13 Examiner St., West Triangle, Quezon City.

For cash donations, interested parties may deposit to Banco de Oro under the account name “ABS-CBN Foundation Inc.-Sagip Kapamilya” with account number 393-011-4199.

For international cash donations, Sagip Kapamilya’s BDO dollar account number is 393-008-1622 with a ‘swift code,’ BNORPHMM. The BPI Dollar Account is under the name ABS-CBN Foundation Inc.-Sagip Kapamilya with the account number, 3054-0270-35 (swift code: BOPIPHMM).

Peso donations may be given via DSWD's Land Bank of the Philippines Account (Batasan Branch). Account name is "DSWD Donation Fund", and the account number is 3122-1011-84.

Donations in dollars may be deposited into the DSWD's dollar savings account in Land Bank of the Philippines (Batasan Branch). Account name is "DSWD Foreign Donation", and the account number is 3124-0055-81.

Globe subscribers can also donate to the Department of Social Welfare and Development using GCash.

In order to make donations, subscribers can dial *143# on their mobile phone, choose "GCASH" then "Others" and finally "Donate". Afterwards, they can enter their preferred amount and PIN, then choose DSWD as their preferred recipient.

Philippine Red Cross

What they need: Volunteers and cash donations

Cash donations can be given through SMS and G-Cash, as well as bank deposit. To donate via SMS, text RED<space>AMOUNT to 2899 (Globe) or 4143 (Smart). Denominations are 5, 25, 100, 300, 500 or 1000 for Globe, and 10, 25, 50, 100, 300, 500 or 1000 for Smart.

To donate via G-Cash, text DONATE<space>AMOUNT<space>4-digit M-PIN<space>REDCROSS to 2882.

Caritas Manila

What they need: Assorted canned goods (sardines/tuna, corned beef, luncheon meat, pork and beans), rice, bottled water, hair and skin care items (bath soap, mosquito repellant lotion/body oil, shampoo, comb), toothbrush, toothpaste, feminine napkins, diapers/washcloth, laundry powder/bar, nail clipper, cotton buds, school supplies, new underwear for all ages

Where: Caritas Manila Headquarters in 2002 Jesus St., Pandacan, Manila; Radio Veritas office along West Avenue corner EDSA, QC; or the nearest parish (drop-off centers).

Gawad Kalinga is not conducting full-scale relief operations, but have said on their Facebook page that they are "closely monitoring the situation and helping in small ways".

The Aboitiz Foundation is currently doing relief operations in Taguig and Laguna. Where: SM Supermalls, together with SM Foundation, will accept donations for victims of Typhoon Maring in all its 47 malls nationwide. Donation bins will be made available in the malls. All donations will be coursed through Caritas Manila.

According to the company’s Facebook page, collected donations will be distributed to affected areas through the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya.
