MANILA, Philippines - Multiply recently opened an office in the Philippines, said to be the company's largest and fastest growing market.

Previously a social network similar to Facebook and Friendster, Multiply now claims to be the widest online shopping portal in the country with 90,000 registered Filipino sellers.

"Aside from being home to Multiply's second largest physical office in the world, the Philippines is also the largest and fastest growing market for Multiply," said Jack Madrid, country manager of Multiply Philippines.

"This office has been a longtime coming and we're all very excited for what lies ahead. Finally opening a Philippine office shows our commitment and dedication to our users. We're telling them that Multiply is here to stay."

Along with the launch of a new office in the Philippines is Multiply's partnership with Go Negosyo to support small- and medium-sized businesses and "help Filipinos become self-sustainable."

Go Negosyo, run by Joey Concepcion, is a non-profit organization that aims to address poverty in the country by encouraging them to start a business.

“While Multiply aims to provide would-be entrepreneurs with a platform where they can easily and affordably start, grow and expand their own businesses, Go Negosyo provides ‘a marketplace of ideas, innovations, business models and best practices' for young Filipino entrepreneurs," Concepcion said.
