MANILA -- Angered by the screaming of a Dutch national at a crying cop during a rally, netizens made a Facebook page that protests the "interference of foreigners" in Philippine politics.
This came after a photo by ABS-CBNNews.com photojournalist Rem Zamora, where Dutch national Thomas van Beersum is seen shouting at PO1 Joselito Sevilla, went viral online.
The Facebook page "Filipinos against Foreign Interference in Filipinas" posted the photo of van Beersum with Communist Party of the Philippines founder Joma Sison.
"This page is created to protest Foreigners' interference in Filipinas political affairs by engaging in political activities such as mass actions and rallies. Likewise, we call on the Filipino government to protect its political and sovereign intergrity [sic]. Foreigners who disregard this should be declared persona non grata," the caption says.
It also posted a short letter addressed to the top officials of the country, in reaction to the open letter of van Beersum to PO1 Sevilla.
"We humbly request the presence / attention of our dear Government of La Republica de Las Islas Filipinas, to Please do the appropriate action and hopefully he will be deported immediately, and shall be forever ban from coming into our Country," the letter says.
As of posting the Facebook page has only garnered 53 fans, around 17 hours after it was created.
