Jason Momoa in a scene from “Bullet to the Head”
MANILA - Filipino fans of Jason Momoa have something to be excited about in the coming months, as the former "Game of Thrones" actor and DC Comics film star is set to visit the country for a pop culture convention.
Momoa, who is best known for his role as Khal Drogo in the hit HBO series, will headline AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2015 (APCC) to be held at the World Trade Center on September 17 to 20.
The American actor, who will be seen as Aquaman in the films "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Justice League," will be joined by several other international personalities at the convention.
American singer and voice actor Jeremy Shada, the talent behind Finn of Cartoon Network's "Adventure Time," will perform solo and with his band Makeout Monday.
Artists and comic book enthusiasts will also get a chance to meet Filipino Whilce Portacio, the artist behind X-Men characters Bishop, Malcolm and Randall. With a career spanning 30 years, he has worked on titles such as Uncanny X-Men, Spawn and Hulk, and has several Marvel covers to his name.
Also attending APCC are mixed media artist Amanda Spayd, who recently launched a line of toy and collectibles in Japan, and sculptor-painter Chris Ryniak, who has similarly made a name as a toy designer.
Cosplayers, meanwhile, can look forward to "The CAGE" or Cosplay Authority Global Challenge, which is billed as the world's biggest cosplay competition with a cash prize of US$10,000.
The international tilt will be judged by popular costume maker Bill Doran, cosplay stars Alodia Gosiengfiao and VampyBit Me, local cosplay photographer Jay Tablante, and "America's Next Top Model" finalist Allison Harvard.
The CAGE will also feature special appearances from international cosplay stars LeeAnna Vamp, Monika Lee and Riki "Riddle" Lecotey.
