MANILA, Philippines – Television host Amanda Griffin Jacob has been named the Philippines’ "sexiest vegetarian" at a contest organized by the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia.
Nearly 20 celebrities in the Philippines were among the nominees for this year’s “sexiest vegetarian” contest.
Included in the list of nominees for PETA Asia’s “sexiest vegetarian” title are models Alicia Mayer, Julia Sniegowski, Isabel Roces, Raya Mananquil and Jinri Park; actresses Yasmien Kurdi, Juliana Palermo, Chin-Chin Gutierrez and Meryll Soriano; singers Geneva Cruz, Nityalila Saulo, Cynthia Alexander and Lougee Basabas; TV host Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan; and former senator Jamby Madrigal.
Griffin Jacob, who is also a model, is regularly seen on the Lifestyle Network hosting her own show “Amanda, Living Life.”
A vegetarian since 2007, Griffin Jacob said: "When I was eating meat, I had a lot of digestive issues. Now that I'm vegetarian, I feel wonderful both mentally and physically. Most importantly, I know I'm giving my children the best possible start in life."
Asked if she has something to tell those who want to be vegetarians, too, she said: "Do it. Your mind and body will thank you for it."
Meanwhile, PETA Asia vice president Jason Baker lauded Griffin Jacob for being a vegetarian, saying it definitely helps the environment.
"Amanda knows that going vegetarian is the best thing that you can do for animals, the Earth, and your health. Plus, she's living proof that being vegetarian keeps you slim and sexy," he said.
In 2012, former beauty queen Sandra Seifert was named the country’s sexiest vegetarian celebrity.
