MANILA - School may be out, but that doesn't mean children can stop learning and bum away the rest of their summer vacation. If you're looking for something for your kids to do, here's a list of summer workshops being offered around the metro.

1. Learn ballet from prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde

The Ballet Manila School, the educational arm of the classical ballet company, will hold its annual intensive summer workshop led by Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, the country's first prima ballerina in the '80s.

The classes being offered are: Maria Ballerina (for kids aged 3 to 5), Fairy Tale Ballet (for kids aged 6 to 8), Beginner (for kids aged 7 to 12), Intermediate (for teens aged 12 to 14), Advanced (for teens aged 14 and up), and Adult Classes.

The workshop will run until May 31, with enrollment ongoing until April 19. All participants will be part of the summer recital on May 31 at the Aliw Theater, where students will have a chance to perform alongside senior Ballet Manila dancers.

2. PETA offers theater classes for kids and teens

Let your children explore and discover the beauty of storytelling expressed through music, movement, dance, visual arts, drama improvisation, poetry, and writing at PETA's Summer Theater Arts program, which runs until May 20.

Open to kids aged 6 to 12, the theater course for children aims to develop and enrich a child’s creativity, imagination and self-confidence coupled with fun and games.

There will also be courses for teenagers (aged 13 to 16) and adults, a musical theater course, and an Advanced Acting course, which will be taught by actor Nonon Padilla.

The workshops will be held at the PETA Theater Center in New Manila, Quezon City and in the Meridian International College in Taguig City.

3. Ballet Philippines teaches classical ballet, hip hop

The Cultural Center of the Philippines is holding its annual summer dance workshop. Enrollment for the five-week long summer course is currently ongoing.

The summer workshop gives courses in Classical Ballet for all ages, Modern & Contemporary Ballet, Creative Movement, Jazz, and Hip Hop for kids and teens. It will culminate with two grand performances: "Flower Festival" back to back with "Wonderland" on May 9 and 10 at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo.

There will be a hip hop dance class to be taught by Italian choreographer and Hip Hop International Elite Judge Margherita Vasselli. She will teaching advanced hip hop students "New Style Hip Hop" -- a genre of hip hop dance seen in rap, R&B, and pop music videos and concerts.

Vasselli will hold classes every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at Ballet Philippines Studio One until May 2.

4. Power Mac offers summer workshop for kids

Power Mac Center, through its Apple Authorized Training Center (AATC), will again hold its annual summer workshop that aims to let children explore their digital creativity. Enrollment is ongoing for the workshop that will run from April to May.

The summer workshop, with the theme "Shape Your Imagination through Technology," is designed to help young learners aged 4 to 16 years old to maximize their iOS and Mac devices through a variety of enriching topics.

The classes being offered are: iPad Class (for kids aged 4 to 6), Programming, Digital Design, Animation & Music (for kids aged 7 to 12), and the Junior IT Specialist course (for teens aged 13 to 16).

Package fee for a full course is P6,000 per student, while half course costs P3,500 per student.

5. McDonalds brings back the 'Kiddie Crew Workshop'

McDonald's Kiddie Crew Workshop is back! The annual flagship family program aims to promote a child's well-being through fun activities where they can learn the importance of responsibility, hard work, teamwork, discipline and sharing, while making new friends.

The five-day annual summer workshop is open to all kids 6-12 years old. The fast food chain offers a P595 package that is inclusive of a: limited-edition Kiddie Crew Workshop shirt; cap; bag; ID with lace; apron; chef’s hat; artwork materials; completion pins after every activity; meals for all workshop days; and a certificate of completion.

The summer workshop will culminate in a "Kiddie Crew Grand Graduation."
