MANILA - As fireworks lit up the night sky, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach looked at the hundreds of fans who gathered around the Araneta Coliseum Monday evening to welcome her home.
She listened to them as their chants grew louder, as it echoed around the famed arena and drowned out the loud bang of the fireworks.
"Pia, Pia, Pia," the crowd shouted.
In that moment, Wurtzbach, who has managed to keep a smile throughout the parade, was reduced to tears. Her triumphant journey to the crown has finally brought her back home.
"I'm so overwhelmed.
"Like what I said before, my goal was to bring back home the crown. And now we finally did it. And I say we, because this is not my crown, this is our crown.
