MANILA, Philippines - Spanish guitarists Dani de Moron and Rafael Rodriguez will hold a free concert on Saturday as part of the celebration of the 2012 Philippine International Guitar Festival and Competition.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on January 28 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Little Theater. It will feature some of the Spanish duo's finest works, Instituto Cervantes de Manila, one of the organizers, said in a statement.
De Moron, a flamenco soloist and composer, began his concert career when he was very young. He won the Hospitalet Calasparra award in Murcia and the Federation of Flamenco Clubs (Federacion de Peñas Flamencas) in Seville. He was also a finalist in the Las Minas de la Union contest and the Biennial of Flamenco in 2002.
Rodriguez, on the other hand, began playing the guitar at age 13. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Milagros Mengibar, Alejandro Granados, Belen Maya and Angeles Gabamdon.
He was recognized in 2008 as the best guitar player in the XV Biennial of Flamenco of Sevilla.
