MANILA, Philippines - Saying the use of Photoshop is a common practice in the industry, Preview magazine on Tuesday admitted using the computer software to "enhance" the photo of international singing sensation Charice, who appears on the magazine's January 2012 issue.

But the magazine quickly added that the the use of Photoshop was "nothing too major as to dramatically alter" the singer's features.

"What the public needs to understand is that Preview doesn't rely on Photoshop to produce its photos," the magazine said in a statement. "For every Preview shoot, we are proud to say that we assemble the best team and crew."

The team behind the cover shoot included photographer Marc Nicdao, hair stylist Buern Rodriguez, makeup artist Juan Sarte and fashion stylist Liz Uy.

"The photos you see in the magazine are the result of the brilliant work of this brilliant team. Photoshop was a minor detail. The transformation began on the set, during the shoot." Preview said.

"If you buy the issue you'll see that Charice looks the same in all the photos. It's difficult to achieve that consistency with Photoshop," the magazine added.

Earlier, Sarte tweeted that the cover photo of Charice was not digitally altered.

"Charice for Preview Behind the Scenes video. Eto ang pruweba. Hindi po yun Photoshop," Sarte said via microblogging site Twitter late Monday, providing a link to the video.

Footage of behind the scenes during the magazine's photo shoot was already uploaded and generating views on YouTube.

Pempengco's cover for Preview, along with Jinkee Pacquiao's cover for the January 2012 issue of Mega magazine, drew mixed reactions online, varying from admiration to outright disbelief.
The debate has been so hot that Jinkee Pacquiao and MEGA Magazine trended locally on Twitter today, as has Pempengco.

“Sina charice ba talaga at jinkee yung nasa preview at mega?” asked @OhMyArkiBoi.

Charice, who celebrated early Christmas in Manila, is now preparing for a major project that will be bared this year.

She is also set to do an Asia-Pacific tour this year.
