MANILA - Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray believes Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados "did really, really well" in the recent pageant.
Speaking on "Tonight With Boy Abunda," Gray said she would have wanted to be part of the panel interview with the judges so she would know what they thought about her.
"I would have loved to be a fly on the wall within the seated interview, with the closed-door interview, because I feel that's when the judges get their first, it's their first impression of the girl, the first impression of their personality," she said, adding that unfortunately, she was not allowed to join the interview.
Gray also said she believes Ganados' performance was "really strong" throughout the competition.
"From there, and the preliminary competition, which I think Gazini did really, really well. She was sultry, and her performance was really strong, I felt," she added.
Ganados continued the finalist streak of the Philippines in Miss Universe to its 10th year. Her top 20 finish also happened to break the successive top 10 finishes of the country in the 9 previous years.
Since 2010, the Philippines has produced four Miss Universe runners-up, and two winners: Gray in 2019 and Pia Wurtzbach in 2015.
