MANILA -- The December 11 concert of U2 at the Philippine Arena will have a uniquely Filipino feature that comes in the form of a poem.
U2 will project the poem "Filipineza" by Filipino-American poet Bino Realuyo on the stage screen as audiences wait for the band to perform.
"The band plans to include poetry that expresses the experience of the country," read a press statement released by Realuyo, adding that U2 has asked the poet's permission to feature "Filipineza" in its concert.
"Filipineza" is a poem about the plight of Filipino maids in Europe.
It opens Realuyo's award-winning collection of poetry, "The Gods We Worship Live Next Door."
