Wurtzbach arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Thursday, ahead of the other Miss Universe candidates, who are also expected to participate in Saturday's event.
In an interview upon her arrival, Wurtzbach told reporters that she is looking forward to the pageant where her successor will be crowned.
“It is going to be special. Of course, it is in the Philippines,” she said.
Aside from Wurtzbach, the other candidates expected to arrive in Manila are Miss USA, Miss Japan, Miss Australia, Miss China, Miss Korea, Miss New Zealand, Miss Indonesia, Miss Malaysia, Miss Myanmar, Miss Vietnam, and Miss Thailand.
Philippine bet Maxine Medina will also be at the kick-off party, as well as Miss Universe Organization president Paula Shugart.
