MANILA – She may not have won the crown, but Rachel Peters is still thankful for the opportunity to represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2017 pageant.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Peters called her Miss Universe stint “my greatest achievement to date.”
She also thanked all the people who have supported her in her journey as a beauty queen.
“I am so lucky to have every single one of you in my life. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I would be brave enough to do something like this, but you all are the reason I got to where I am,” she said.
“I’m still overwhelmed by all the love.”
Peters, who finished in the Top 10, assured her fellow Filipinos that she did her best in the pageant.
“I promise I gave my all, but I’ve always been a believer in fate, destiny, and God’s perfect timing, so I’m thankful for the opportunity and the memories,” she said.
“I am so looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me, and to come home to the Philippines,” she continued. “First thing on the agenda – sinigang!”
Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa was crowned Miss Universe 2017 in Las Vegas on Sunday (Monday in Manila).
The Philippines has three Miss Universe titleholders, with Pia Wurtzbach the last to win the crown in 2015.
