MANILA – Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach took to social media to send a message to Rachel Peters, the Philippines’ representative in this year’s edition of the international pageant.
Wurtzbach, who sat as one of the judges of Miss Universe 2017, thanked Peters for making the Philippines proud.
“Sitting on the other side, it was so nice to witness a Miss Philippines perform and have the loudest cheer in the crowd. Keep your head up. We’re all so proud of you,” she said in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
Peters finished in the Top 10 of Miss Universe 2017, which was won by Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa.
Wurtzbach congratulated Nel-Peters for a “well-deserved win.” She also praised her successor, Iris Mittenaere, saying the French beauty queen “had an amazing reign as Miss Universe.”
“I’m so happy that we got along so well and I gained a friend in you,” Wurtzbach told Mittenaere.
Wurtzbach won Miss Universe in 2015. The Philippines’ two other Miss Universe titleholders include Margie Moran (1973) and Gloria Diaz (1969).
