What do Filipinos look for in an ideal partner? An exploratory study conducted by Pru Life UK in 10 countries throughout Asia, including the Philippines, showed that Filipinos want their ideal partner to be someone they can enjoy doing things with, and someone who respects their individuality.
However, honesty is also valued, as are traits that make a person very easy to get along with. With all the “hugot” memes scattered throughout the internet and the popularity of sad love songs, it may be that Filipinos just do want a bit of loving “one call away”, as a recent chart-topper goes.
The study by Pru Life UK measured what it dubbed the “Pru Life UK Relationship Index” (PRI). It rates how much a person’s primary relationship delivers what they want from that relationship, with a score of 100 meaning a person gets 100% of what they want.
The study was conducted from July 13 to 31, 2016, with 500 Metro Manila-based individual respondents taking part in an online survey. The participants were adults aged 25 to 55 years, with incomes of at least P20,000 per month—approximately the top two-thirds of household income in the country’s capital.
