It's been a while since he saw his girlfriend, Rachel Peters, who flew to Las Vegas a week before him for the Miss Universe pageant.
But the moment he did, Camarines Sur Governor Migz Villafuerte knew that she is more than ready to take home the crown.
"Every time nakikita ko siya, I fall in love all over again," he told ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe in an interview on Friday. "Pero sa totoo, napakaganda ng timing ni Rachel, ng kanyang pag-peak."
"Dahil kailangan you also have to time when you're going to shine the most and nakikita ko naman na habang palapit nang palapit iyong pageant eh paganda siya nang paganda," he added.
Peters took an early flight to Las Vegas for the preliminaries and other activities, with Villafuerte following suit just a few days ago.
"Sobrang na-miss ko siya," admitted Villafuerte. "Ever since umalis siya, parang naging long distance relationship kami."
"Pero okay naman kasi alam ko talaga iyong sacrifice that comes with it... Si Rachel naman talaga, ako mismo ang makakapagsabi, binuhos niya talaga lahat pagdating sa training at sa preparations."
Peters is one of the early favorites, according to bookmakers, behind only Thailand and South Africa in some betting websites.
In the same interview with Felipe for "TV Patrol," Peters admitted to feeling the pressure in bringing home the Philippines' second Miss Universe title in three years.
"Masyadong maraming pressure on myself," she shared. "Pero at this point in time, I've made peace with myself."
"I've realized that no matter what happens, I'm happy with my achievements, and that I did my best. So win or lose, or anything in between, I'm happy and at peace with that."
