1. PAPEMELROTI ARTISAN WORKSHOPS

When: November 8 to 9
Where: Papemelroti Artisan Workshop, Roces Ave., Quezon City

Just over a month to go before Christmas! Consider saving money on gifts by making them yourself.

Whether it’s adding a personal touch with calligraphy and watercolor art, or creating a completely DIY project, local gift shop Papemelroti is offering a number of workshops to help you with that.

2. MASUNGI SOUL: YOGA, NATURE, AND SOUND HEALING RETREAT

When: November 9, 7 a.m.
Where: Masungi Geopark, Rizal

Make a quick escape from the toxic urban jungle and head to the Masungi Geopark in Rizal to recharge. 

Take on the Legacy Trail and immerse yourself into the greater Masungi Geopark project where restoration efforts are currently ongoing. Medication practices, yoga and sound healing activities are also integrated to help you find inspiration. 

This event is open to beginners in yoga and hiking on a limited slots basis.

3. MACBETH BY THEATER TITAS

When: November 9 to 10, 15 to 17, and 22 to 23
Where: City’s Power Mac Center Spotlight

Extend the Halloween season throughout November with a staging of William Shakespeare’s "Macbeth."

For the next three weekends, local production company, Theatre Titas is bringing Birnam Wood to Makati City’s Power Mac Center Spotlight. 

Alternating the titular role of Macbeth are Tarek El Tayech and Jeremy Domingo. Issa Litton and Anne Gauthier, meanwhile, will alternate in portraying Lady Macbeth.

4. CATS IN MANILA

When: November 6 to December 1
Venue: The Theatre at Solaire

World-renowned theater star and the Philippines’ very own Joanna Ampil reprises her role as Grizabella in the new Manila staging of Cats. 

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s record-breaking 2015 Olivier award-nominated musical plays for a strictly limited season at The Theatre at Solaire.

5. HONNE & JOAN IN MANILA

When: November 7 to 13
Where: Select Ayala malls

Glorietta is unveiling the new look of its activity center with a three-day indoor event, Glo Up Fest. It began on November 7 with a ceremonial Christmas Tree lighting to usher in the spirit of the season, followed by live performances of international electro-pop artists Honne and Arkansas-based indie-pop sensation Joan. 

The two groups are also performing at select Ayala Malls on the following schedule: UP Town Center on November 8, 7 p.m.; Alabang Town Center on November 9, 3 p.m.; Bonifacio High Street on November 9, 7 p.m.; Fairview Terraces on November 10, 7 p.m.; Trinoma on November 12, 7 p.m.; and Ayala Malls Manila Bay on November 13, 7 p.m.

6. 8TH BRAZILIAN FILM FESTIVAL

When: November 7 to 9
Where: Up Film Institute

The UP Film Institute in cooperation with the Embassy of Brazil in Manila is staging the 8th Brazilian Film Festival. 

Enjoy a number of films at Cine Adarna and Videotheque for free on a first come, first served basis. Movie schedule and registration forms are available in the UP Film Institute’s website.

7. 2019 KOREAN FILM FESTIVAL

When: November 7 to 8
Where: Select SM Cinemas nationwide

In celebration of 70 years of meaningful friendship and rich cultural exchange between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea, Korean Cultural Center (KCC) teamed up with Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE) to open the annual Korean Film Festival. 

KFF 2019 will run in Manila at SM City Fairview and will be stopping by SM malls in Cebu, Iloilo, Davao, Olongapo, Clark, and Cavite. 

All films are with English subtitles. Admission is free on a first come, first served basis.

8. 4TH GERMAN FILM WEEK MANILA

When: November 7 to 11
Where: SM Manila and SM Megamall cinemas

The German Film Week is a showcase of the latest and the hottest to come out of the German cinema market in the past two years. 

Now on its fourth edition, the festival features a roster of 12 full-length feature films that offer movie buffs a chance to delve into the rich variety of German cinema. 

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall this year, 6 of those films focus on the historical event.

9. ESCOLTA CELEBRATES LIFE OF CARLOS CELDRAN 

When: November 9, 4:30 p.m.
Where: Escolta, Manila

The Escolta Block community celebrates the extraordinary life of Carlos Celdran, honoring his contributions to heritage, culture, and art in the city. 

A parade led by the City of Manila Marching Band will begin in front of Savory Escolta. The public is enjoined to come in costumes and write the late artist activist letters on paper hearts.

10. ARANETA CITY GIANT CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

When: November 8
Where: Times Square Food Park, Araneta City

Usher in the holiday season with a special tree lighting ceremony at the Araneta City (formerly Araneta Center) in Cubao, Quezon City. 

Kapamilya stars Anne Curtis and Vice Ganda are set to lead the event. Dance sweetheart, AC Bonifacio will also take the stage, followed by musical numbers from Idol Philippines' Zephanie Dimaranan and Lucas Garcia.
