MANILA - A doll made by a Filipino was named the winner in the recently concluded Miss Beauty Doll 2016 pageant.
The doll, named Shawnah Bautista Vasquez, represented the Philippines.
According to the doll's biography, Vasquez is from Angeles City, and is a "professional model, a home cook, and journalism graduate," and is also a "prolific blogger" who writes about her work as a model.
Aside from Bautista, other winners included Vietnam's Dang Thuy Nam, named first runner-up; Puerto Rico's Denise Marrie Torres, named second runner-up; Dominican Republic's Cinthya Santos, named third runner-up; and India's Isha Narayan Kalpana, named fourth runner-up.
Bautista's maker Cholo Ayuyao thanked all those who supported him.
"My inbox and notification is so full of your celebratory messages, and im touched to know that you did wait for the results no matter how late it was and shared with me the tension of anticipating the winner," he said in a Facebook post.
He also addressed those who questioned what he was doing.
"To the other people who questioned the feat, it might look like child's play, but this is personally big for me. I dont have to justify its existence for your personal validation," Ayuyao said.
