(UPDATED) There will be no back-to-back Miss Earth titles for the Philippines. 

This, after Celeste Cortesi fell short of cracking the Top 4 of the pageant, it was revealed during the coronation night held at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay Saturday. 

The Fil-Italian model exited the beauty contest after a round where the candidates were asked to expound on a hashtag. She failed to clearly explain her point relating malnutrition with respect. 

The title was ultimately won by Vietnam's Phuong Khanh Nguyen, who, in the question-and-answer round, called for millennials to use technology and social media to "transform the world."

The Philippines' Karen Ibasco, the 2017 titleholder, was onstage to pass down the coveted crown. 

Melissa Flores of Mexico was also named Miss Earth Fire, with Colombia's Valeria Ayos and Austria's Melanie Mader taking home the titles Miss Earth Water and Miss Earth Air.
