MANILA - Mobile phones can be more of a study aid than a distraction for Filipino students using a new application.
Zookal provides free mock exams for students looking for a more convenient way of studying. The app, which was launched in September, is free.
The app started as a book-rental service in Sydney, Australia designed for students who can’t afford expensive textbooks, said John Tse, co-founder of Zookal.
In the first three weeks since its launch, Zookal has had 30,000 downloads on the iOS and Android platforms.
The application features mock exams for college entrance tests such as the University of the Philippines College Admission Test, professional license exams and other review tests.
Some 500 Filipino teachers wrote the questions in the app's practice tests, Tse said.
App users can take the multiple choice exams which gives the correct answer if a user chooses the wrong choice. They can also receive tips from scholars around the world.
