MANILA -- Being bullied as a child motivated Vicki Belo to build her own beauty empire.
The doctor to the stars made this revelation over the weekend as she reacted to the "Magpasikat" performance of Vice Ganda on "It's Showtime."
After praising the comedian for always being "inclusive" in all of his acts, Belo could not help but recall the time she was being bullied for being fat and adopted.
"Parang ayaw mo nang may nabu-bully. Ayaw mo nang may naiiwan... Hindi niyo alam, kaya ako pumasok sa beauty business dahil I'm also a victim of bullying. So when I was a child, I was very fat. I was 5 years old, I weighed a hundred pounds. And I was adopted, ampon po ako ng mga Belo," she said.
She continued, trying to hold back her tears: "Iyong mga kids tinutukso ako, 'Bakit ka pinamigay, dahil pangit ka? Or dahil ang taba mo?'"
"I think people don't understand that the reason I went into beauty is [because] I want to make everyone beautiful. Because when they're more beautiful, they're more loved, accepted."
With Vice Ganda's "Magpasikat" performance on self-love, Belo said she was finally able to understand why her husband and fellow doctor, Hayden Kho, has been a fan of the comedian for 20 years.
"You're an inspiration to a lot of people," she told Vice Ganda.
