MANILA -- Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon revealed on Thursday that she was among the hundreds of models who auditioned for lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret just weeks ahead of the brand’s much-awaited fashion show.
While Tugonon made it to the final casting, she won’t be donning the iconic “angel wings” in the prestigious fashion event.
In a post on Twitter, she said didn’t make the cut.
Tugonon, who is now based in the United States, also thanked her followers for their messages of support.
The news came just days after Tugonon, who earlier appeared in an ad for Victoria’s Secret Pink, flew to the Dominican Republic as one of the calendar models of Nu Muses.
"I flew to the US from Philippines with a dream. I wanted to aim higher, to be globally known and excellent in this industry (modeling and acting)," she said in an earlier interview.
"Being in this calendar is a huge opportunity to showcase my beauty and personality, a great exposure for me and hopefully will be the beginning of a long lasting successful career in this field I'm very passionate about," she added.
Last Monday, Victoria's Secret announced that the 2016 fashion show will be held for the first time in Paris.
Already set to participate are Victoria's Secret veterans Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio and Lily Aldridge. It will air in the US on December 5.
