(UPDATE) She may have fallen short in her quest to bring home the country's first Miss Grand International title.

But Elizabeth Clenci still did the Philippines proud Wednesday night after becoming the only Asian candidate to finish inside the pageant's top 5.

She was named second runner-up, behind eventual winner Maria Jose Lora of Peru and first runner-up Venezuela's Tulia Aleman Ferrer.

Puerto Rico's Brenda Jimenez was third runner-up, while Czech Republic's Nikola Uhlirova rounded up the top 5.

In the final round, Clenci, a half Romanian who grew up in Australia, and the other candidates were asked: "If you have to issue a law to punish criminals of war and violence, how would you punish these people and why?"

Clenci answered by saying that "a nation is judged not by criminals but how the nation punishes them" before advocating for mental rehabilitation. She also said that persons should not be judged simply by the crimes they commit.

The hours-long coronation night held in Vietnam called for peace across the word.

In an earlier round, Clenci said it is her responsibility to "fight and strive for peace through love, compassion, understanding and education."
