MANILA — Looking for staycation ideas for the upcoming long All Saints’ Day weekend? Check out this recently opened serviced residence in the Alabang area.
Somerset Alabang Manila, located at Filinvest City in Alabang, marks the first foray of The Acott Ltd. into the southern part of the metro. The third Somerset in the country after Somerset Olympia and Somerset Millennium, both in Makati, this is Ascott’s sixth property in the Philippines — with more already in the pipeline.
In an interview, Marinisa Forschler, marketing manager of The Ascott Ltd., said the company is set to open Citadine Millennium Ortigas Manila next year.
“Aside from Manila proper, we’ve also launched Citadines Cebu City but the property will be opening in 2019,” she said. “And then we have one more to be announced also in the Visayan region and within Metro Manila but not necessarily Makati but somewhere near the Manila area and also in Quezon City. We’ll be announcing that very soon.”
“Our target number of properties by 2020 is 20 to 25 properties,” she added.
The 150-unit Somerset Alabang offers studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. It is mainly targeted at the expat executives who work in the south but has also become very popular for staycations, even among families who are from the nearby subdivisions.
That shouldn’t come as a surprise. Apart from being a brand new player in the area, Somerset’s units have a homey feel, thanks to a balcony that not only allows plenty of natural light but also tranquil views of the area. As expected from serviced residences, the apartments come with a fully equipped kitchen, living area, entertainment system and Internet connection.
The units are also quite spacious. Even the studios measure 43 sq.m., while the one-bedroom units start at 56 sq.m. The three-bedroom units are a roomy 122-128 sq.m.
The homey feel actually starts at the lobby, with the lounge area decked like a grand library.
Facilities also include a fitness center, a pool, the children’s play area Cubbies Room and Cafe Madrigal, which is being run by Enderun Hospitality Management and features some signature dishes from the well-reviewed Restaurant 101 at Enderun Colleges.
Somerset’s central location puts it within walking distance to Commercenter, where you can catch the latest movies, and Westgate for more dining options with its restaurants and bars, while the Filinvest Tent is just across the street.
Given its business positioning, Somerset also has 11 serviced offices for lease, two function rooms that can be collapsed into smaller meeting rooms, and two boardrooms.
