MANILA -- Resorts World Manila kicked off the month of October recently with a craft beer festival that gathered 31 craft breweries, big and small, at the Plaza of the Newport Mall.

Featuring established breweries as well home brewers, Oktoberfiesta had a diverse collection of beers that would suit anyone’s fancy.

While looking around the beers and exhibitors, one can also get a snapshot of the current trends in the beer industry.

New England Indian Pale Ales are appearing in many bars around the metro. An accessible drink for new beer drinkers, it's fruity and sweet with just a little of that bitter aftertaste. The folks from the Half-Baked Brewery have a brew that resembles light white wine and would be good to pair with chicken or fish.

Tea-based beers were also on tap. Some booths had jasmine tea beer. A hibiscus beer from Mark and Tony was even pleasantly pink, with a fruity balance between the tea and the light beer.

There were also wildly inventive flavors like ones made with coffee and mango. But the siling labuyo beer from Naga-based Balon Craft Brew was a hellishly spicy drink for the most daring of beer drinkers. Drink this cold as that heat really does pack a punch.

Resort World Manila’s restaurants also joined the fiesta with bar chow. Chicken skin, fried isaw, ham pan de sal, and its Pinoy hotdogs were tasty bites paired with the different beers available around the venue.

The Oktoberfiesta was a great opening to usher in the various beer-related promos of the hotel and casinos of Resorts World Manila, as well as the restaurants of Newport Mall.

Newport Mall merchants have their own take of beer matches and beer-infused dishes including Johnny Kahuku Hawaiian Shrimphouse’s Crispy Drunken Shrimps; Crustasia Asian Seafood Market’s Crispy Pork Knuckles; Lumu Filipino Kitchen’s Beer-battered Fried Chicken; Chiara’s Beer-flavored Sorbet and Zuppa Inglese infused with Alkermes Liquor Syrup; Shrimp Bucket’s Beer-battered Fish and Fritts; and Mr. Kurosawa’s Beer-battered Fish and Chips.

Also served at Savoy Hotel Manila at Newport City are Beer Pork Knuckles, Beer-infused Osso Bucco con Gremalota, Beer-Marinated Schnitzel, Beer Pretzel, and Beer and Mustard Sauerkraut.

Music fans can also enjoy October Fiesta at El Calle Food and Music Hall, which also serves a great beer match via Bolahan’s streetfood platter, a selection of beers, wines, and spirits, and some of the top acoustic acts in the metro today.

Aside from Newport Mall’s Octobrew Grubs, more thrilling promos await guests at Resorts World this October including Hilton Manila's Rugby World Cup 2019 Live at Port Bar, Sheraton Manila Hotel's Community Hour at The Lounge, and October Fiesta promos from Silogue, Grand Bar and Lounge, and Holiday Inn Express in partnership with El Calle Food and Music Hall.
