MANILA – It was like coming home for Miss World Philippines 2017 Laura Lehmann when she watched the Ateneo de Manila University-De La Salle University basketball match of the UAAP at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday.
In an interview during the halftime break, Lehmann expressed how happy she is to be back at courtside of a UAAP game.
“This is the first game that I am watching this whole season and I am glad that I had time to attend and see everyone again. I miss everyone,” she said.
Way before Lehmann won the pageant, she began her TV career as a UAAP courtside reporter for the Ateneo Blue Eagles back in Season 77.
In the same interview, Lehmann also shared what she thinks sets apart an Ateneo-La Salle game from the others.
“It’s the community. Because no matter how tight the score is, no matter how wide the score is, you always have fans cheering. You have alumni here who are lolos na tapos may babies pa dito. Everyone comes out. The community spirit is unlike anything else. That’s what I love about the UAAP lalo na 'yung Ateneo and La Salle game,” she said.
She then took the opportunity to thank all her supporters who have been there for her since her courtside reporter days.
Lehmann also urged her supporters to help her as she represents the Philippines in the upcoming Miss World pageant.
“I missed you so much UAAP. I am very happy to be here today. Maraming salamat to everyone who supported my Miss World journey. Thank you guys and I hope you vote for me. All you have to do is go to the Miss World website, www.missworld.com, look for Philippines and click vote,” she said.
