MANILA - A Filipina was crowned as this year's Miss Diamond of the World in a pageant held at the Sofitel Hotel in Algeria last Thursday.
Christine Joy Picardal bested 29 other representatives from countries around the world, including those from Romania, Russia, and Germany.
The Philippines became the second winner in the history of the pageant, which began in 2015.
Miss Diamond of the World is billed as the first international beauty contest in Algeria.
Reacting to her win, Picardal wrote on her Facebook page: "It is not really the crown that infatuates me now, it is the warmth and the love I've been receiving from my co-candidates."
Picardal, who has joined several local pageants in the past, appeared as a bit player in several ABS-CBN shows, such as the superhero series "Super D" and the weekend episodic fantaserye "Wansapanataym."
