MANILA -- Onscreen partners John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo were seen together watching "Himala: Isang Musikal" on Saturday at Circuit Makati.

"Himala" is the iconic musical by Ricky Lee and Vincent de Jesus adapted from Ishmael Bernal's classic film of the same title. It follows the story of a barrio lass named Elsa, played by Nora Aunor in the 1982 movie, who becomes a faith healer and regarded as savior who could uplift the lives of her townfolks mired in poverty and superstition.

Castmember Vic Robinson on Sunday posted a photo of Cruz and Alonzo on his Facebook page. "Thank you Popoy and Basha for visiting Baryo Cupang last night," he wrote.

Cruz and Alonzo played Popoy and Basha, respectively, in "One More Chance," the-now classic romantic comedy that was released in 2007 and became a massive hit, creating a fanbase over the years. It was produced by Star Cinema and directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. It's sequel, "A Second Chance," was released in 2015.

In "Himala," Robinson alternates with Sandino Martin in the role of Pilo, the former lover of Chayong in Barrio Cupang. The musical runs all weekends up to October 20 at the Spotlight PowerMac theater in Circuit Mall, Makati City.

Chayong (played by Neomi Gonzales) is the close friend of Elsa. In the musical, Aicelle Santos and Celine Fabie are alternating as Elsa.

In an online interview with ABS-CBN News, Lee clarified that the September 21 performance was a fundraising event for his future free scriptwriting workshops.

Since the early 1980s, Lee has been conducting free workshops even before "Himala" the film was released. World acclaimed director like Lav Diaz is member of Batch 1.

Alonzo is part of Batch 22, whose Sunday sessions are still ongoing at Lee's library in his house in Quezon City. Among the members who attended was actor-former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista.

"Isang grupo, siyam lahat. Workshopper si Bea at inimbitahan niya si John Lloyd, pati na rin 'yung iba pa," Lee said.

"Maraming sumuportang workshoppers na andoon gaya nina Cherie Gil, Agot Isidro, (directors) Sheron Dayoc, Jay Altarejos. Mga kaibigan din kagaya nina (producer-director) Joji Alonso, (director) Dan Villegas, marami pang iba," Lee added.

In the said photo, Cruz can be seen seated between Alonzo and his close friend, the columnist-writer-editor-film music scorer-music video producer Erwin Romulo.

"May taping si Bea at talagang busy but she found time to support the show," Lee said, adding that the workshoppers were the ones who helped selling the tickets.

A couple of months ago, Alonzo has publicly admitted her breakup with actor Gerald Anderson. In recent weeks, there has been speculations that Cruz had broken up with partner Ellen Adarna, though this hasn't been confirmed by the two.

Cruz has chosen to lead a quiet, private life since he went on a hiatus two years ago. Still he remains a news magnet wherever he goes and whatever he does. Among "John Lloyd sightings" was him buying fish in the public market of the tourist-haven town of Moalboal in Cebu province.

A day before watching "Himala," he was reportedly seen at the Cultural Center of the Philippines documenting a performance upon the invite of actress-organizer Madlen Nicolas.
